Trad 4 & 6

The Traditional range was launched in 1985 with “Ellesmere”, the first 50ft Trad 4 class. This was a top of the range class for the discerning hirer and also as a showcase for Black Prince’s boatbuilding which was looking to grow into the private market at the time. Unusually for this period she was on a hull built elsewhere, as Black Prince’s then design did not suit a traditional, private looking style of boat.

Features included velvet wallcoverings, fixed double ‘poster’ bed and a bathroom with fresh water flush toilet.

In 1986 “Colemere” was also built along similar lines and under the new ownership a further five were built, this time with water cooled engines rather than the earlier, noisier Lister’s.

In 1990 a Traditional 6 was launched with a semi-traditional stern, but only one was built.
